You'll learn a Vinyasa (flow yoga practice) daily during our morning beach yoga, which will allow you to continue your practice after the Retreat. Our daily surf camps will be held at several locations over the week to provide participants an in-depth and personal understanding of the diverse surfing conditions on Oregon's NW beaches. Our highly qualified Certified Lifeguard Instructors will provide a safe, progressive and dynamic teaching environment for you. We'll work with students to develop their skills at the pace in which they grasp them. Our enthusiasm for your success is mutually shared between us!

We'll carpool and deliver the trailer with all the day camp's gear to the daily location.  Because of the close and convenient location of our lodgings to the beach and Downtown, you can park your car for the Retreat and not have to go into busy summer traffic. We recommend you bring your bicycle to enjoy rides about the area.  There are bicycle rental shops, if you decide not to bring your own bike and would like to rent one.

Be treated to an amazing and relaxing apres surf hour massage with local masseuses, Jody Herring and Carol Mathre, formally from Seaside Spa and Wellness Center.  Select your time for massage upon your arrival.

Evening activities include a Live Dinner Show at the renown EVOO Cooking School in Cannon Beach, a hula hoop group beach lesson and fire hoop demonstration with Hoopist Mandy Ferguson, a group walk along the Historic Seaside Promenade to Broadway for fun at the Arcade, nostalgic Bumper Cars and Tilt-a-Whirl rides, an optional Longboard Skateboard demo and instruction with our surf instructor, Dennis Braun, and the last night's bonfire on beach with talented local musician, Jason Lambert.

All wetsuit, wetsuit parts, Gath helmet and surfboard equipment is included and will be "custom fitted" on the first day of the Retreat. NWWSC also provides rescue tubes, a rescue surfboard and complete first aid kit at each day's camp, in case of an emergency.

A NWWSC Zippered Hooded Sweatshirt and Partner's Gift Bag of gifts, discounts and goodies are yours as souvenirs of the Week's Retreat! "Remember a Retreat is a "Treat" you give yourself!"

Guest Testimonials

"I had the time of my life.  And for those of you wanting to experience the ocean on a whole new level, I can't recommend enough the experience of being in the water with a surfboard (not to mention an amazing group of instructors).  The Director who leads the retreats, camps, group and private lessons is Lexie Hallahan.  Lexie briings a whole new vision of women, community, surfing and environmental awareness of our oceans.  She and her team of instructors were top-notch!"  Almine

"I had tried surfing about 3 times in the last 5 years without any instruction.  Then I took a 3 hour lesson with Director Lexie Hallahan.  Surfing finally made sense and I simply got hooked!  Lexie's endless enthusiasm and positivism are nothing but inviting, so I didn't hesitate to register for the Oregon Retreat.  Lexie definitely knows how to put an amazing Retreat together, to allow the participants to have a wonderful time!  Besides empowering women and helping them feel comfortable in the water with their new skills, she had one surprise after another, after another!"  Itzel

"The Retreat was excellent!  The lodging was top-notch, food fantastic, surfing instruction the best!  A week of physical & mental exercise, as well as fun, relaxation and positive spirit.  Surfing was the highlight for me...also getting to know the instructors and other guests.  I really enjoyed how happy everyone was...it was contagious!"  Penny

Women's Week Surf Retreat Packing Recommendations

For Day Camps Essentials, go to our website's Policies and Forms heading, on our Home Page menu and print off a list.

In addition to the items you will need (or possibly want) to bring to the Day Camps, you will also want to consider bringing the following with you for the Retreat:

1. A bicycle. Seaside is bicycle friendly and fun to check out on a bike.

2. Your favorite pillow &/or blanket. Linen and bedding are provided, but nice to have your own personal bed comforts.

3. A favorite inspirational poem, saying, thought, photo or passage. On our last evening together, we will have an evening bonfire after dinner. We can share with one another our favorites.

4. Layered clothing. Even in the summer months on the North Oregon Coast, we can have cool evenings and windy conditions in the afternoons. Bring clothing that will be easy to add to or take off, depending on the temperature. A windbreaker is a must!

5. Ugg sheepskin boots or similar warm footwear. The perfect companion after a day of surfing or at a beach bonfire. Instant warmth for your footsies!

6. A journal. On special personal adventures and retreats, it's nice to have a travel journal to write your thoughts, experiences and new friends contact info.

7. A book. The coast is a great place to cuddle up with your favorite novel.

8. A camera with film. We have an amazing woman photographer who attends most of the camps. We make available those photos taken by her to you, on Kodak's photo gallery. They are printable from their.  It's nice to have your own camera though for your personal photo preferences.

9. An alarm clock. So you can rise when you would like to. Some of the rooms have alarm clocks.  Breakfast is served Continental Style for 2 hours in the morning. You can get up and eat during that time frame.

10. Personals, vitamins and medicine. We can not disperse medicine to Retreat participants. A First Aid Emergency Kit is available during Day Camps and at the Retreat, if needed.
