LEXIE HALLAHAN - During the Spring of ’05, I started NW Women’s Surf Camps with an inspirational team of instructors.  2012 will be our eighth season offering women, men, couples, girls and boys of all ages a unique opportunity to learn surfing on the Oregon Coast and on the Island of Kauai.  Our focus, accomplishments, mission and vision have been a resounding success! When it all flows together in perfect synchronicity on a wave, it produces a kind of joy inside of me that’s really hard to explain. So all I can do is give thanks and hope that I can share that feeling with others."

JEANNINE POUCEL - "Surfing is simply a matter of accepting nature's whim.  Because maybe today, at this very second, the perfect wave will allow me to harness it's power and glide effortlessly across it's majestic crown.  OR it will pick me up with angry upheaval and slam my cocky butt into it's depths.  It is then that I take comfort in the fact that nature, in the end, will prevail.  To teach another woman how to read and play in this kind of environment fosters empowerment from within and a humble appreciation of the things we can't control.  We can only hope to have the flexibility and grace to accept the ocean's offering and in return encourage more people to protect it.  I am thankful to be part of this organization."

All of our surf instructors are experienced water people with over 100 years of surfing time between us.  We’ve traveled for surf to Indonesia, Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Canada and the Pacific Northwest.  We are all Certified in Lifeguarding, American Red Cross CPR and First Aid.  One of our instructors has 22 years of beach lifeguarding experience on Seaside and Cannon Beach beaches.  We've trained with a Coast Guard swimmer in advanced ocean skill rescues.  All instructors teach with Gath surf helmets for their students.  In case of an emergency, rescue surfboard and/or tubes and first aid kit are provided at every camp, lesson and event.

We pride ourselves in having “raised the bar” in both qualified surf instruction and the safe way we conduct it.  We all love sharing our passion for life and surfing with our students.  Come join us for an empowering surfing experience on the beautiful North Oregon Coast and the breathtaking Island of Kauai!
